Google Trips Is Gone. Here Is What Actually Replaced It

Google Trips was the app that did the boring part for you. Book a flight and it appeared. Book a hotel and it appeared. Land in a city and there was a day plan, sorted by neighbourhood, that you could tweak with a tap, and the whole thing worked with no signal.
It shut down on 5 August 2019. Years later, "Google Trips alternative" is still a search people make, because nothing Google shipped afterwards is the same thing. This page is what happened to each piece and where to find it now.
What Google kept
The reservations. The bookings Trips pulled from your inbox still show up, in the Trips section of google.com/travel and, on a phone, inside Google Maps. Flights, hotels and rental cars land there from the confirmation emails, exactly as before. If that was the feature you loved, you did not lose it. You lost the app around it.
The search. Google's travel pages are a flight and hotel search, and a good one. They are not a planner. There is nowhere to put a day.
What Google dropped
The day plans. The magic wand that built a morning in one neighbourhood and an afternoon in the next never came back. Maps will save a place and show you a list. It will not tell you what to do on Tuesday.
Offline. Trips downloaded the city before you left. Maps can download an area, but the plan, because there is no plan, is not in it.
Things to do, by you. Trips knew what you had booked and suggested around it. Now you get the same "top sights" everyone gets.
What each piece became
Here is the fair map, app by app, with prices at the time of writing.
For the inbox trick: TripIt. Forward a confirmation and it files itself. It is the direct heir to the reservations half of Trips, and it does that job better than Trips did. TripIt Pro, at 49 dollars a year, adds real-time flight alerts. It does not plan the days. Our TripIt comparison covers where it stops.
For the day planner: Wanderlog. Closest in spirit to the planning half, with a route optimizer, offline access on the paid tier, and expense splitting. Pro was 39.99 dollars a year at the time of writing. Every place is typed in by you. The Wanderlog comparison is the honest version.
For the reservations only: Google itself. Free, automatic, already on your phone. Fine if all you wanted was a list of what you booked.
For the plan made from what you actually saved: Dreamfare. Which is where we are honest about ourselves.
Where Dreamfare fits, and where it does not
Dreamfare does not read your inbox. If a confirmation appearing by itself is the whole point, TripIt or Google's own tab wins. Dreamfare's version is a paste: put the confirmation email or a screenshot into the trip's receipts and it reads the facts and files them on the right stop. One paste per booking, and nothing scans your mail.
Dreamfare does build the day plans. Not from a top-sights list, from the places you saved: share in the TikToks, Reels, YouTube videos, Reddit threads and notes you already collected, the places come out pinned, and Trip magic lays them out by neighbourhood with each stop's hours checked at the time you would arrive and the gaps between them measured. Your flight times fence the first and last day. It is the Trips wand, pointed at your own research rather than Google's.
The group half Trips never had: invite people by link, chat inside the trip, vote on stops, share the packing list. And when something needs paying for, the plan hands off to stays, activities, rail and eSIM with your dates already in.

Which one to pick
If you miss the reservations appearing by themselves, TripIt. If you miss the day planner and do not mind typing, Wanderlog. If what you actually want is the day planner fed by the places you have been saving for months, with the group in it, Dreamfare.
Most people who loved Trips loved the feeling that the trip assembled itself. That feeling is still available. It just starts from your saved folder now instead of your inbox.
