Free AI Trip Planner: What You Actually Get Without Paying

Product access and booking details can change. See current plans, credits and partner checkout.
Search for a free AI trip planner and you will get thirty of them, all free, all in the same green button. Two weeks later you are looking at a paywall on the one screen you needed, with your whole trip behind it.
The word is doing a lot of work. It covers at least four different deals, and the difference only shows up once you have put real effort in. So before the tour of what Dreamfare lets you try, here is how to read the word itself.
The four things "free" means
Free for a week. A trial. Everything works, beautifully, until it does not. Fine if you are planning one trip this month and you know the date the music stops. Bad if you started planning in January for August.
Free up to a cap. A real free tier with a meter: so many AI plans, so many imports, so many trips. Honest, as long as the cap is stated somewhere you can find before you sign up. If you cannot find the number, assume it is low.
Free because something else pays. Usually booking commission or ads. Nothing wrong with it, and it is how a lot of good travel tools stay free. Just know that a planner funded by what it sells will quietly plan around what it sells, and the free viewpoint does not earn anything.
Free to try, then priced. You start without paying, the machine work runs on an allowance, and the full version is a subscription with a trial on it. The thing to check here is what happens to the trip you built when you stop paying, not just what the trial includes.
Dreamfare is the third and fourth together, which is worth saying plainly: you can try it for free, the booking side is funded by commission rather than by you, and the planning runs on an allowance.
What you can try without paying
Start an account and none of this asks for a card.
| Costs nothing to try | What that means |
|---|---|
| Trips you build by hand | Days, stops, times, notes, as many trips as you want |
| Saved places | Anything you save anywhere in the app, pinned with a real address |
| The map | Every stop on it, distances between them, the day drawn out |
| Inviting people | Your whole crew editing one trip, no seat charge |
| Trip chat and voting | The argument about Thursday, attached to Thursday |
| Packing lists | Shared, ticked off by whoever packs it |
| Share links | Send the itinerary to someone with no account |
| Booking links on every stop | The real page for that hotel or tour, with your dates in it |
| Commission share when you book | You earn the share whether or not you subscribe |
The part that costs is the part where a model does work for you. That runs on Stardust, and a free account gets a monthly allowance of it, refilled on the 1st. The app shows your balance and tells you what an action costs before it spends anything. The exact figures move as the product does, which is why they belong on a screen you can read today rather than in an article written months ago.
| Action | What it costs |
|---|---|
| Import a video, article or list | The most of the three |
| Build or rebuild a plan with AI | The same as an import |
| A message to the planner in a trip | A small fraction of either |
So a free month is a handful of imports, or the same small number of AI-built plans, or a mix of the two with questions left over. A failed import refunds itself, so a dead or private link costs you nothing.
The allowance does not roll over. Whatever is left on the 31st is gone on the 1st, which is worth knowing if you plan in bursts.
How far the free allowance gets you
Be honest with yourself about which of these you are.
One trip, no rush. The allowance covers the few videos that started the whole idea. Build the rest by hand, on the map, over a few evenings. That is most people, and it is a fair test of whether the app suits you.
A group trip. The expensive-looking part, everyone editing one itinerary with chat and votes attached, does not touch the allowance at all. Groups do not need the AI. They need one place that is not the group chat.
A trip you already know. You have the places. You want them on a map with hours and booking links, in an order that works. You can do all of that on the trial.
When it will not be enough
You are planning from saves. If your real research is forty TikToks and a folder of Reels, a handful of imports a month is a bottleneck you will feel in week one.
You plan more than a few trips a year. The meter is monthly, not per trip, and a real planning session burns through it in an evening.
You want to talk to the plan. Asking the planner to move Thursday, find a cheaper stay and rebuild the afternoon is a few Stardust per exchange. It adds up fast, because it is the good part.
At that point Premium starts with a free trial in the app and raises the monthly allowance far enough that imports stop being the thing you ration. Premium+ adds unlocks for the exact-location spots creators share. The app shows the current price for your store in your own currency, on a monthly or a longer plan, and you cancel in your store settings like any other subscription.
How to stretch a free month
Practical, in the order that saves the most.
- Import your best ones, not your first ones. Every import costs the same, so pick the videos with the most places in them, not the ones nearest the top of your saves.
- Paste instead of importing where you can. A list of place names or an article you paste as text costs the same as a video, so batch a whole city into one paste rather than three.
- Build the skeleton by hand. Days, dates and your flights cost nothing. Spend the Stardust on the fold that fills them, not on the frame.
- Ask one big question rather than six small ones. "Move dinner nearer the hotel, swap the museum to Friday and find a cheaper stay" is one message.
- Do the AI work at the start of a month. The allowance resets on the 1st and does not carry forward.
The honest part
A few things no free tier changes.
Dreamfare does not book anything, at any price. Every stop carries a tracked link, you check out on the partner's own site with your own card, and a share of the commission comes back to you. That is the same whether you are trying it or paying for it.
Free AI planning is still AI planning. Everything in what an AI trip planner gets right and wrong applies on the free allowance exactly as it does on the largest plan. Check the venues, check the hours, check the distances.
And the cap is real. This is a metered free tier, not an unlimited one, and anyone telling you their AI planner is unlimited and free is being paid by someone you have not met.
The short version
Free means four different things. Ask which one before you invest an evening: does the tool take the trip away when you stop paying, or does it only stop doing the thinking for you?
You can try Dreamfare for free, and the honest way to use that is as a test rather than as a plan. One free month is enough to find out whether the places come out right, whether the map matches how you actually move and whether your friends open it. If it holds up, Premium starts with a free trial. If it does not, you have spent nothing.
