How to Turn Your Notes or a Friend's List Into a Trip
September 7, 2026 · 5 min read
Somewhere on your phone there is a note called "Tokyo ideas" or "ROME!!!" It has eleven lines in it. Three are restaurants a friend swore by, one is "the market near the church, Tuesday only", one is a bar from a magazine, and the rest you no longer remember writing.
That note is the best research you have, because it was filtered by people who went. It is also useless in that form, because a note cannot be pinned, sorted into days, or checked against opening hours. Every trip eventually reaches the evening where you retype it all into a map.
Skip that evening.
What the notes import does
Dreamfare reads text the same way it reads a travel video. Give it a page of notes and it finds the real places in it, pins each one at its actual location, and files them into your library as a set. Advice that has no pin in it, like "book the rooftop a week ahead" or "cash only in the old town", is kept as a tip for that city instead of being thrown away.
From there the places behave like anything else you saved. Add them to a trip, drop them onto days, or let Trip magic build the days around them with hours and distances checked.
It runs in the background, costs the same Stardust credits as importing a video, and refunds if it fails.
Where the text comes from
Apple Notes. Open the note, select all, and share it to Dreamfare. The import screen opens with the text already in place. Or copy it and paste into the box on the Import screen. Both work, and both need at least a couple of lines. A single place name is not a note.
A friend's list. The voice memo you transcribed, the "here's everything we loved" message, the email with twenty places in it. Paste the whole thing. You do not need to tidy it first.
A group chat. Copy the stretch of the chat where people were throwing out ideas and paste it as one block. The chatter around the places is fine, the import ignores it.
A saved article. Select the body of a "24 hours in" piece and share it. Long pages are fine up to a few thousand words.
A screenshot. Your phone can copy the text out of a screenshot, and once it is text it is a note.
A Google Maps list. Maps will not export a saved list, which is the reason this guide exists. The names still come out in a minute: open the list, copy the names down, paste them in. Ten names on ten lines is enough.
If you plan in ChatGPT or Claude, the same import is there too: paste the text into the chat and ask it to import the places into Dreamfare.
What it will and will not do
It finds places that are actually named. "Cervejaria Ramiro" gets a pin. "The ramen place near the station" does not, because there are forty, and inventing a pin would be worse than none. Lines like that are kept as tips so you still see them when you get to that day.
It works out the city from context. A list of Lisbon restaurants with no header still lands in Lisbon. Two cities in one note is fine too. The places get their own locations and the tips get tagged to the right one.
It keeps the reason. If the note says "Pastéis de Belém, go before 9 or queue", the queue advice stays on the place, not somewhere in a separate document.
It does not book anything, know your dates, or make a plan on its own. It gets the research into a form that a plan can be made from. That is the whole job, and it is the job that used to take an evening.
From places to days
Once the set is in your library, three routes.
Add them to a trip you already have. Pick the trip and the places arrive unscheduled. Drag each onto a day. If your friend's list was long, do this over a coffee, it is the fun part.
Let Trip magic build the days. Tell it the dates and it lays the places out by neighbourhood, checks each stop's hours at the time you would arrive, and measures the gaps. The place your friend loved that is shut on Mondays gets moved or flagged before you find out on the doorstep.
Leave them saved. Not every note is a trip yet. The set sits in your library, pins on a map, until it is.
The five minute version
- Open the note, select all, share to Dreamfare, or paste it into the Import screen.
- Wait for the places to come out, with the tips attached.
- Add them to a trip, or let Trip magic build the days.
- Read the tips on each day so the queue advice arrives before the queue.
- Do the same with every list a friend sends you, on the day they send it.
The short version
Your notes already hold the trip. Share the note to Dreamfare and the places come out pinned, the advice stays attached, and the days can be built from there instead of from a blank map.
Do the same with saved travel reels and a Reddit thread, share the finished plan so people actually use it, or start the trip first.
